Glitter Farting Unicorn? Cut the Crap!

Please Cut The Crap is a great site for those who want to reinforce why they will vote FOR Obama and the Democrats in November, and for those who need ammunition to argue politics with their friends or neighbors or somebody on Facebook.
Glitter farting unicorn cookies from glamatheart.tumblr.com .

Please check it out frequently, as new articles are added every couple of days.

In particular, they have an absolutely great list of Obama's accomplishments.

Here's the intro to that great article:

If you're one of those folks who thinks President Obama is a "disappointment," you haven't been paying attention the last few years. And those of you who try to draw comparisons with the Bush Administration should put away the hallucinogens and have your memory checked. ... But please join the real world. So far, this president has done most of what he said he would do if elected; imagine what he could have done by now if progressives had supported him and not given him a Congress that doesn't look at him as if he's the demon seed.
Not only is he NOT a "disappointment," he's pretty much the opposite. And no, I don't just say that because he took out Osama bin Laden, helped Libya determine their own destiny for the first time in a while, and because he seems able to handle international incidents without starting a new war. The guy does nearly everything we elect a president to do, and he doesn't brag about it constantly.
Is he perfect? No, he's human. Does he deserve some criticism? I suppose, but I must admit I haven't seen any complaints that were of based on anything having to do with the real world. One I can't forgive him for is pulling Janet Napolitano out of Arizona. But the thing is, on balance, he's mostly stellar. Besides, criticism about certain specific problems is one thing; taking on an overall "Obama sucks" meme not only has the potential to put Willard Romney into power, it's also a lie.
Just because you wanted a president who would give you a glitter-farting unicorn and didn't quite get that doesn't mean he's not doing well at the job we hired him for.
I do like that glitter-farting unicorn line.  (The unicorn cookies from glamatheart.tumblr.com look intriguing as well.  And, about the whole article, you'd better believe it.. Republicans and Democrats alike need to read this article.

Just a couple of items from  Please Cut the Crap's accomplishments.  I'm trying to list things that were new to me... Get your butt over to that site to read the rest!.
  • Legislative Prowess  Despite the characterizations of some, Obama’s success rate in winning congressional votes on issues was an unprecedented 96.7% for his first year in office.  Though he is often cited as superior to Obama, President Lyndon Johnson’s success rate in 1965 was only 93%.   http://n.pr/i3d7cY
  • Economic Recovery & Policy  He created a $60 billion bank to fund infrastructure improvements such as roads and bridges. http://bit.ly/e1SSaQ
  • He dismantled the Minerals Management Service, thereby moving to cut ties between energy companies and the government. http://nyti.ms/bw1MLu
  • Consumer Protection  He established a Consumer Protection Financial Bureau designed to protect consumers from financial sector excesses.  http://bit.ly/fnTayj
  • He oversaw and then signed the most sweeping food safety legislation since the Great Depression.  http://thedc.com/gxkCtP
  • Civil Rights and Worker's Rights  Under his watch, National Labor Relations Board has issued final rules that require all employers to prominently post employees' rights where all employees or prospective employees can see it, including websites and intranets, beginning November 2011.  http://1.usa.gov/qu2EhQ
And a heads up to Addicting Info which also posted that list.

Thank a Liberal!

Thank a Liberal!  From Robert B on Facebook:
I hear all the Tea Party Republicants & their Libertarian lapdogs screaming about Corporate Regulations, & how they need to be done away with!   Well let's see, prior to these regulations, corporate greed & lack of regulations were responsible for ship sinkings, train wrecks, bridge collapses, unsafe vehicle crashes, building fires & collapses, & dam breaks, amongst other problems. Without regulations, the millionaires cut costs to increase their profits, & it's we the worker ants who were paying the price!!

Thanks so much, Robert, for reminding us why these regulations came into existence.  There was a reason for most of these regulations, people!

And, no, Both parties are NOT the same!

Other comments on this found at Facebook:

Thank the union workers, many of whom literally died for us to have all this. AS long as they are making money corporations won't give us this. IN fact they are already seeking to turn all this back. I know someone at GM who is being forced to work 50 hour weeks, no lunches and so forth in order to keep production quotas. Its happening again and that is why we need to be vigilant.
And don't miss this great article published at the Daily Kos about unions.. with an excellent observation from the movie Alien.

From the article:

Unions were the driving force in creating and preserving the American middle class during the times of greatest prosperity. The basic concept underlying a union is that workers can achieve more for each individual through collective action than through individual action. Individual members organize and select representatives who negotiate on behalf of the whole. Solidarity is the key source of strength. A clenched fist does more damage than five fingers separately.

Why are the Kochs Spending 400 million on Romney?

Found on the Internet, perhaps from Veracity Stew?
A great question.  If both parties are the same, why this massive spending?

Wake up, people!

Both parties are NOT the same!

There is a reason that the Kochs want Mitt Romney to win.  And it's not because he is a good guy with a pleasing personality!

The Kid Needs a Job! Those Darned Liberals...

Darned Liberals!

From Formidable Republican Opposition on Facebook.

Let's remember:
Both parties are NOT the same!
Though Republicans tended to be more Progressive in the late 1800's and early 1900's, that hasn't been true since the New Deal.  The Democrats have been the party that has most promoted fair working conditions, Civil Rights, Voting Rights, and, for the most part, the Republicans went along. Now things are different.

If we don't want to go backwards, remember that Both parties are NOT the same.. and steer clear of Republicans!

Why a Lifelong Republican Would Leave the Party

Why would a lifelong Republican desert the party of his "birth"?

Michael Stafford talks about lobbying his grade school friends to vote for Reagan in 1984.  (I remember similar lobbying (and disharmony as well) way back into the early 60's.. Yep, in the 1960 race between Kennedy and Nixon and the 1964 Goldwater/Johnson race.  I was on the side of the Republicans back then.)

From   http://lynnrockets.wordpress.com

Stafford writes:
I'm a life-long Republican. My political affiliation has been woven intrinsically into the very fabric of my being.
My first political act was passionately lobbying my fourth-grade classmates to vote for Reagan over Walter Mondale in a mock election in 1984. As an adult, I continued to be a rock-solid Republican- I helped run my law school's chapter of the Federalist Society and its Republican club. And after the election of President Obama in 2008, I served as an officer in my state Republican Party. For the next two years, I devoted substantial amounts of my time, my talent, and my treasure to supporting local candidates running for office and to building the Party organization.
He continues:
As a local GOP official after President Obama's election, I had a front-row seat as it became infected by a dangerous and virulent form of political rabies.

He writes about the birthers, the  climate change deniers, the rise of the Tea Party, and the Ryan budget.. Yes.. a lifelong Republican actually does NOT like the Ryan budget and sees the Paul Ryan budget for what it is... He actually says "The wealthy win and the rest of us lose".

A man with some sense!

He concludes:

Ultimately, leaving the GOP was necessary in order to maintain my own integrity. Leaving is also a public act of personal protest. I am under no illusions about its broader significance- it will have no impact on the trajectory of the political narrative in this nation. But that does not make it futile. On the contrary, as the shadows lengthen, such minor individual acts of defiance and dissent are more critical now than ever before.
Perhaps, one day, a reformed and responsible Republican Party will reemerge.
Perhaps..  What would that take?

How many people out there, people now inclined to vote for Romney would need to think:  Maybe the wealthiest among us have enough... and the rest of us will get tired of losing?
HERE's the article, written by Michael Stafford and published at www.nj.com.

Quit Wishing for Perfection, Democrats!

The future with Romney is unacceptable!

By Michele R on Facebook's Kick Butt Liberals Page:

Republicans may feel like throwing up when they support Romney & vote for him--but they WILL support & vote for him. Do Dems and Indies realize what our future will look like if we don't stick together to protect ourselves from the future the conservative right has in mind for us????

We may have our differences of opinion and our criticisms of Dems and Obama. It's time to quit wishing for perfection. It's time to focus on the forest instead of the individual trees. Can we just stop for a minute and imagine a future under conservative right rule? Really imagine it. It is an unacceptable future! Are we really willing to divide and allow ourselves to be conquered by the likes of the Koch Brothers/Rove/Norquist agenda?

They aren't kidding around with forcing their agenda on us. They are organized, well-funded, and have managed to coalesce a renegade Wall Street, evangelicals, the newly conservative Catholic church, and every dingbat-hickerbilly-Faux News watching voter. THAT is what we are up against this election!!!! What differences among us are more important than defeating THAT?

The time is NOW to to get our act together!

I mean, really, people, isn't it obvious?  Thanks, Michele!

In Spite of GOP Obstructionism at Every Turn..

Yep... Imagine where'd we be without all of the Republican obstruction!
Let's make sure we don't give the keys back to the same yo-yo's who drove the bus off of the cliff in the first place!

From the Facebook page:

In spite of inheriting the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, he got our economy moving in the right direction again.
In spite of GOP obstructionism at every turn, he passed historic health care legislation.
In spite of entrenched resistance, he repealed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”
In spite of entering office with the country and our troops embroiled in nearly a decade of ceaseless war, he responsibly ended the war in Iraq and is winding down the conflict in Afghanistan.
In spite of the calls of some to just "let Detroit go bankrupt,” he saved the auto industry and the jobs of hundreds of thousands of American workers.
In spite of the previous administration taking it’s focus off of Al Qaeda, he took the fight to them and finally got Osama bin Laden.
In spite of the unrelenting attacks by his political enemies, in which his patriotism, values, and even his birthplace were questioned, he always held his head up high and continued to fight with passion and determination for the American people.
Imagine what President Obama could accomplish without all the spite!
Get out the vote on November 6, 2012, reelect a good man and a great American, and let’s continue to move our nation FORWARD!

Ask Mitt Anything!
